Are you interested in giving your children and young people a fantastic opportunity to benefit from outdoor learning in the natural environment? If the answer is yes, then you need to come along to your local Montgomeryshire OLW network group soon!
We meet once every school term and rotate the meetings around the area, to make at least one meeting closer to you.
Local teachers, youth leaders, woodland owners, Forest School leaders and others are already seeing the many benefits of outdoor activities, including Forest School, so come along and be part of something that is fun and hugely rewarding.
A number of our members are Forest School leaders who are part of Montgomeryshire Forest School, which runs Forest School programmes using various woodland sites in the area. More information can be found on the Montgomeryshire Forest School website: http://www.forestschoolmontg.org.uk/index.html
The network group is particularly keen to get secondary schools in Montgomeryshire involved. Outdoor learning has relevance for a wide range of subjects across the curriculum but also have a very positive effect on the pupils’ behaviour back in the classroom too.
We would also very much welcome input and involvement from local businesses, particularly natural resource using businesses, as we are always looking for opportunities for our young people to experience first hand the sustainable use of natural resources such as forests and wood products industry. And of course it may spark an interest in them to take up a career working within the natural environment in some capacity.
Please navigate our website to see all the things we’ve been up to. You will be able to download resources not only from our projects but from all the network groups, a fantastic resource!
