Fantastic Forests (North West Wales FEI)
Created by OLW Wales | Published 06.21.12
This project is to take forward forest education in the North West. The fantastic forests project has raised awareness of forest schools and many teachers have begun level 3 leader training. The cluster decided to expand with more specialist training and advice and support, focussing on wood as a sustainable resource.
FEI funding is supporting:
Sustainable management/green woodwork training for 32 practitioners; an advisory service on site set-up, site use and sustainable management to 10 sites; 3 sites developed as case studies: a public access site, a forest within school grounds and a site where there are accessibility issues and little woodland – a Special School for children with physical and learning disabilities. Each site will publish a case-study and ‘how-to’ document to help other sites replicate their projects.
