Montgomeryshire Woodland Intervention

Created by OLW Wales | Published 06.21.12

A project aimed at teenagers (12 to 17) identified by the Youth Offending team designed to raise these kids confidence and self esteem and get them back “on the rails”. The project was based around teaching these teenagers various woodland skills, to enable them to create a new Forest School site which could be used by other groups and local schools within the area, thus giving something back to the local community.

The 7 teenagers attended 6 sessions over several weeks, learning that they could actually make things out of “nothing” that could be sold, and that a sustainable living could be made in the woods.

Since completing the project none of the participants have gone on to offend or commit anti-social behaviour.
