Aberystwyth FEI cluster group became Ceredigion OLW Network group at a fantastic launch event held at Bwlch Nant yr Arian visitor centre.
With the sun beaming down on them, over thirty people from across the county came together to enjoy sharing skills, networking and get involved in some hands on activities. A wide range of settings and organisations were represented who all had an interest in supporting outdoor learning in the area.
There was a tour of the site detailing how it has been successfully used to promote education about the natural environment. The tour took in the Kite feeding area where everyone was invited to stay on to watch the wonderful display and even have the chance to get involved!
Attendees had great fun learning how to make wooden stilts using a shave horse.
There was a fire lighting workshop using a variety of techniques, which was very popular.
Leigh Denyer, Natural Resources Wales education officer for the area, demonstrated the use of OPAL citizen science packs to examine the health of the pond.
Feedback from the day was very positive and everyone gave their details to be collated into a directory of outdoor learning providers in the area which the group hope will be of great benefit to schools and settings in the county.
