North East Wales Outdoor Learning Conference

Impio Outdoor Learning Wales Network group delivered a ‘Creating Successful Futures through Outdoor Learning’ conference, which was highly enjoyed despite the rainy weather! The conference took place Greenfield Valley Heritage Park in Holywell on the 4th April 2019

The 120 attendees donned their wellies, ditched their suits and enjoyed getting together with like-minded people to consider how outdoor learning can deliver the new curriculum.  Delegates gained gain inspiration and practical ideas by attending fantastic workshops based around the new Curriculum for Wales’ 6 Areas for Learning and Experience:

Workshops were run by:
•• Expressive Arts: ‘The Lost Happy Endings’ with Polly Snape
• Health and Well-being: ‘Healing Nature’
• Humanities: Ethics, beliefs, religion and spirituality within the context of outdoor learning
• Languages, literacy and communication: Plas Derw Trust and inspiring seasons
• Mathematics and Numeracy: Counting and Coding with Ysgol Glan Gele
• Science and Technology: Surveying and observation with North Wales Wildlife Trust

As a bonus, there were 4 skill enhancing workshops on offer as well:
• Using mindfulness with groups of children
• Using and maintaining edge tools
• Historic Healers
• Flintshire Eco-Champions
